An officer on patrol at Terminal A yesterday afternoon first spotted Ernesto Green, 21, of Newark not wearing a seatbelt and blocking traffic with his four-door tan Nissan, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Green then backed the car down the on-ramp and headed to another level, he said.

The officer stopped the vehicle and quickly discovered that Green had two outstanding warrants from Newark, Pentangelo said.

Green “was uncooperative, refusing to answer questions,” he said.

He was arrested due to the warrants and his car was searched — at which point officers found the semi-automatic handgun loaded with 10 rounds of live ammunition, Pentangelo said.

Green was taken into custody on weapons charges, traffic violations and the warrants, he said. His vehicle was impounded.

He was being held on $50,000 bail in the Union County Jail.
