Officers were dispatched to a South Airmont Road home at approximately 7 p.m. on Monday night following reports of a one-vehicle crash where the driver may have “passed out.”

Police said that upon arrival, it was determined that the driver - a woman from New Jersey whose name was not released by police - had struck the mailbox and left the roadway. The vehicle “came to rest on private property just a few feet away from the residence.”

No injuries were reported, and there was not significant property damage, police said.

Officers said that the woman “had exhibited signs of intoxication and subsequent to their investigation placed her under arrest for (driving while intoxicated),” a misdemeanor. Following arraignment, the woman was released and is due back in court at a later date to answer the charge.
