Police in Ramapo arrested Monsey resident Esther Zamir on Sunday afternoon after she was stopped for operating a vehicle of an acquaintance without permission. When the acquaintance saw Zamir driving it, she called police to the scene and she was subsequently arrested.
Further investigation by police determined that Zamir was in possession of 100 "decks" of heroin, syringes and marijuana.
According to police, Zamir stands charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminal possession of a controlled substance, for the heroin. She was also charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, driving while ability impaired by drugs and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. all misdemeanors. She was also cited for unlawful possession of marijuana.
The 22-year-old was processed and arraigned in the Village of Wesley Hills Justice Court before Judge Philip Schnelwar. She was released on her own recognizance and was back in court Tuesday to answer the charges.
