The fire was reported at 4:30 a.m. at 3 Wesley Chapel Road, said Ramapo Detective Lt. Mark Emma.
When officers arrived on scene flames could be seen coming from the roof of the home. All residents were able to get out of the home safely, except for one who received burns to her forehead while trying to extinguish the fire, Emma said.
She was treated at the scene by Rockland paramedics and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by the Spring Hill Ambulance Corp. Her injuries do not appear to be life threatening, he added.
The first arriving firefighters from the Tallman Fire Department, found heavy fire venting out the side of the home and encountered heavy heat and fire along with zero visibility conditions as they made it to the second floor of the home, firefighters reported on Facebook.
Because the area does not have many fire hydrants, one of the trucks provided water from a local lake to help douse the flames.
Tallman was assisted by the Suffern, Monsey, Hillcrest and Mahwah fire departments.
