Teen Killed In Ramapo Crash Returned To Native Argentina

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A 17-year-old yeshiva student who was killed during an accident in Ramapo in which an off-duty Peekskill police officer hit two students in the driveway of their dormitory just before midnight Wednesday, has been flown home to Argentina for burial, according to multiple reports.

Route 202 near the intersection of Wilder Road is where two cars sideswiped each other sending one car flying into a group of students standing in a driveway, killing one and injuring anoter.

Marcos Tawil, was killed when the officer, Jonathan Mosquera, 24, of Suffern, tried to pass a 2008 Honda driven by Tzvi Hakakian, 19, of Monsey on the left as he was making a left turn into the Yeshivat Tiferet Tora.

The two cars sideswiped each other, sending the officer's car crashing into the teens before it hit an embankment and hit two trees, according to reports.

The other student injured, David Maldanado, is listed in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center. Both drivers received minor injuries, according to News 12.

Police investigating the crash have ruled out the use of drugs or alcohol as the cause. No charges have been filed, according to News 12.
