Calling it a “job well done,” the Suffern Facebook post said first responders to Tuesday’s blaze at Society Hill Village convinced 9-year-old Sofya Doroshenko to jump from a third-floor balcony into their arms.

The child was trapped by smoke and flames in the fire that apparently started in the kitchen of an elderly neighbor’s condo.

The three police officers, who caught Sofya in their arms, were praising her for being brave.

Suffern police, in their post, added that everyone was safe and that there “were no significant injuries.”

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it destroyed the entire building, Suffern police said.
