Suffern Police Report Uptick In Car Window Smashing Incidents

SUFFERN, N. Y. -- As the temperature outside rises, Suffern police have also seen a recent uptick in the number of reports from people who've found valuables missing and windows smashed in cars parked near playgrounds, parks and ballfields.

Police are sending out a warning not to leave valuables in unoccupied cars. In a post on Facebook, police officials also ask that anybody who sees something suspicious should report it right away.

The reports are coming from throughout Rockland and Bergen counties, police said. Pocketbooks are most often taken, meaning the owner is out an ID, credit cards and cash and more, police said.
