Suffern Police Charge Spring Valley Man With DWI

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- A 39-year-old Spring Valley man is facing a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge in Suffern after a traffic stop on Lafayette Avenue, according to police.

The man, whose name was not released, was stopped for speeding about 10:30 p.m. on a recent evening and found to have been driving drunk, police said.

He was arrested at the scene and later released without bail pending a future court appearance, police said.

A similar incident resulted in a 25-year-old Suffern man being charged with driving with a suspended registration and a misdemeanor count of circumventing an interlock device, according to the police.

The 25-year-old, whose name also was withheld, was arrested on Yorkshire Drive after police found that he had been driving with a suspended registration, according to police. 

Further, the man had been ordered by a judge to install an interlock device in his car after a prior DWI conviction, but was driving without one, police said.

He was arrested and later released after posting $500 cash bail. He is to appear in court at a later date, police said.

On Wednesday, a 19-year-old Airmont man was charged with a violation count of unlawful possession of marijuana, police said. 

The man, whose name was not released, was driving along Washington Avenue when an officer pulled him over for speeding, police said.

During the traffic stop, the officer found that the teen was in possession of marijuana, police said.

On Thursday, a 53-year-old Suffern man was charged with trespassing.

According to police, the man had been warned to stay off his neighbor's property, but ignored the warning and, in the process, defied a court order.

The man was arrested and later released pending a future appearance in court, police said.
