Rudy Hernandez, 23, was charged with criminal contempt and assault following a domestic dispute when he violated an order of protection and punched his ex-girlfriend several times in the face, causing injuries, Osborn said.

The order of protection violation was charged based on the fact that the victim filed for and was issued an order against Hernandez in 2016 which required him to refrain from harassing behavior, including assault, due to a prior incident in Suffern.

Hernandez was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 7.
