Spring Valley police responded to the 7-Eleven at 65 Kennedy Drive around 4:15 a.m. for a report of a robbery. When they arrived officers learned that Spring Valley resident Christopher Vilsaint, 30, has entered the store displaying a knife, jumped the counter and ran toward one of the store clerks with the knife, said Spring Valley Det. Reginald Anderson.
A brief struggled took place between the clerk and Vilsaint until a good Samaritan who had been shopping in the store was able to intervene and subdue Vilsaint until the police arrived, Anderson said.
Vilsaint was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree robbery and attempted assault with a weapon.
He is being held in the county jail in lieu of $250,000 bail since pleading not guilty to the charges on May 23.
Vilsaint is scheduled to appear in court on June 6.
