Albert Gomez, 63, hit the infant and three others, including the child's mother and two older sisters, on June 26, when they were walking on the side of the road on Route 59 near Robert Pitt Drive, Ramapo Police said.
Gomez allegedly sped onto the shoulder when he struck the victims, after becoming angry when he was cut off in traffic by a taxi and then began chasing the vehicle, hitting the family, police said.
The infant, Mayer Braun, who was in a stroller at the time, died on July 5. His mother and older sisters also suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and are recovering.
“The defendant has admitted his guilt and will be held accountable for causing the tragic death of a baby boy who had his entire life before him,” said Zugibe.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 6, 2018, at which time Gomez will receive 15 months to four years in state prison, as part of the plea agreement, the DA's Office said.
Gomez remains in the Rockland County Jail.
