The arrest came about when an officer patrolling Sloatsburg stopped a vehicle for speeding and swerving, police report.
The officer noticed the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and conducted field sobriety tests on the driver, according to officials.
After failing the tests, the suspect was charged with DWI and transported to a local hospital for a DWI blood test, police report.
After being charged, the woman was issued an appearance ticket, according to officials.
Ramapo police officers handled 17 motor vehicle accidents on Friday, including four apiece in Airmont and Monsey, two apiece in New Hempstead and Hillcrest and one each in Montebello, Viola, South Spring Valley and Suffern Park.
Four of the accidents involved injuries; one accident was a hit-and-run, according to officials.
Ramapo police handled 120 calls Friday, including nine alarm activations, eight medical emergencies and one fire.
A total of six arrests were made.
Charges included assault, DWI, DWAI-drugs, criminal possession of marijuana, suspended license and a bench warrant, police report.
