Ramapo Police responded to the serious injury crash around 7:32 p.m. Saturday, on Route 17 in Sloatsburg in the area of the Sunnyside Restaurant, Lt. Kevin Lee said.

The crash occurred when an ATV and a 2016 Subaru, both traveling northbound in the left lane, collided, Lee said.

The unidentified driver of the ATV sustained serious head injuries and was treated at the scene by Rockland paramedics and an off-duty doctor on his way to Tuxedo who stopped to offer aid, Lee added.

Once stable, the driver was taken by a Sloatsburg ambulance to the Sloatsburg baseball field where a helicopter took him to Westchester Medical Center, police said.

The driver of the Subaru, a 30-year-old male from Monroe, and his 29-year-old passenger were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital aboard a second Sloatsburg ambulance for observation.

The New York State Police Crash Reconstruction Team and the Ramapo police are conducting a joint investigation.

At this time no tickets have been issued, but the crash remains under investigation.
