RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police are warning residents to be aware of scams that try to exploit people through email.

As an example of this issue, RPD has copied the following email, an obvious scam, that was received by one of its officers:

"Dear Sir, 

"After a just concluded meeting among the board, the office of the presidency Federal Republic of Nigeria under the leadership of our new president Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari mandated that all foreign Allocation/Payment should be release without any further delay. 

"To this effect, I will input your name as a beneficiary so it is very important you provide the following details, 1, full names, 2, Your Full address 3, Your direct phone numbers. As soon as this information is received, be rest assured that full attention will be given to you towards immediate release of approved Allocation. 

"Regards, 

"Mr. Mike Williams, Chairman Payment advisory Board, Office of the Presidency. Send reply to: wmike3344@hotmail.com."

It is recommended that all citizens do not reply to these types of emails and be very discerning about sending personal information over the Internet.
