The program, which aims to educate drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists about the rules of the road, was paid for with a grant from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Traffic Safety Committee.
Ramapo police said they ended up issuing a few warnings and tickets to violators on Tuesday.
According to the state’s See! Be Seen! campaign, the responsibility for preventing accidents falls on all parties.
Drivers are urged to expect pedestrians, pay attention (don’t text while behind the wheel) and obey speed limits.
For the pedestrians’ part, the campaign advises using the crosswalks, obeying the traffic signals, looking both ways and paying attention (don’t text while crossing).
According to safety.ny.gov, there are nearly 300 pedestrian fatalities each year.

This spring, an 83-year-old Montebello woman was struck and killed by a car while trying to cross busy Route 202 to retrieve her mail.
There were no traffic lights or crosswalks near Mayer Drive, where Faith Leigh, a former teacher and children's librarian, was hit by a 21-year-old Monroe driver.
After the fatal incident, the U.S. Postal Service agreed to let certain patrons move their mailboxes to their side of Route 202.
Also Tuesday, Ramapo police answered 150 calls for service, including 15 alarm activations, two fires, and eight medical emergencies.
They also investigated 15 motor vehicle accidents.
The locations of those accidents were: Route 202, Pomona; Elliot Place, Hillcrest; North Airmont Road, Airmont; Johnsontown Road, Sloatsburg; Sterling Mine Road, Sloatsburg; Torne Valley Road, Ramapo; West Hickory Street, Hillcrest; Viola Road, Viola; Route 45, New Hempstead; Route 202, Montebello; Route 59, Monsey (2); Route 59, Airmont (3).
