The driver of the car, whose name was not released, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, police said.
The incident occurred about 10 p.m, when an officer pulled the vehicle over for an "equipment violation," police said.
When the officer approached the car, he smelled marijuana and conducted a search, eventually uncovering the drugs, police said.
