The officers saved the life of an unidentified Village of Sloatsburg woman after responding to her home for a medical emergency.
Once on scene, officers were able to determine that she was suffering from an overdose and administered the antidote, said Capt. Marty Reilly.
After administering the Narcan, the patient began to breath on her own, police said.
According to Reilly all patrol officers carry both a defibrillator and doses of Narcan.
"Narcan has turned out to be an excellent tool," Reilly said. "It has resulted in many lives saved."
Sloatsburg Ambulance Corp and Rockland County Paramedics also responded to the scene.
