Ramapo Police Keep Busy With 106 Calls In One Day

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police were busy on Thursday, April 28, responding to 106 calls.

One of the calls included a call for assistance from the Suffern Police Department who requested the used of the Ramapo K-9 unit during a car stop on Orange Avenue in Suffern. 

As a result of a search of the stopped car, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken into custody by Suffern police.

In addition, Ramapo police investigated eight motor vehicle accidents. One accident resulting in injuries was on East Eckerson Road in Hillcrest. The remaining property damage accidents occurred on the following: Route 59 in Airmont; Chestnut Ridge Road in Chestnut Ridge; Willow Tree Road in Wesley Hills; Cedar Lane in Kaser; Main Street in Monsey; E. Eckerson Rd in Hillcrest, and Union Road in the Village of New Hempstead.

Other calls included the following:

  • 10 - Alarm activations
  • 6 – Medical emergencies
  • 8 – Fires
  • 3 – Arrests – including charges for criminal possession of a controlled substance, a warrant of arrest and custodial interference /obstructing governmental administration.
