Ramapo Police Come To Aid Of Elderly Walker

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police came to the rescue of an elderly man who had gone out for a stroll Sunday and then became too tired to return to his home.

Police said they saw the man, who was using a walker, on Viola Road and stopped to check on him.

The man told the officer that he had walked too far from home and was too exhausted to go back.

The officer took him home and waited with him until his son arrived.

Also on Sunday, police investigated several motor vehicle accidents, including one with injuries on Olympia Lane in Tallman.

The other accidents occurred at Bonnie Court, New Hempstead; Maple Avenue and Route 59 in Monsey; Main Street, Hillcrest; South Monsey Road, Airmont; Red Schoolhouse Road, Chestnut Ridge; and Route 202, Ramapo.

Police also responded to 115 calls for service, including six medical emergency; 11 alarm activations, four fires; and arrests for second-degree criminal contempt and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
