Ramapo Police Charge Man With Trespassing At Sloatsburg Library

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police charged a 62-year-old man with trespassing at the Sloatsburg Library on Thursday afternoon.

The man, who had been warned several times in the past that he is not allowed on the property, was soliciting money and cigarettes, according to police.

The suspect was not present when police arrived; he was located by officers later and charged with trespass, officials report.

The defendant was arraigned and released, pending a future court date in Sloatsburg Village Court, according to officials.

A temporary order of protection was issued for the suspect to stay away from the library, police report.

Ramapo police responded to eight motor vehicle accidents on Thursday.

The sites of the accidents included: Red Schoolhouse Road in Chestnut Ridge; Route 59 in Monsey; Route 202 in northeast Ramapo; West Eckerson Road in Hillcrest; College Road in Airmont; Regina Road in Airmont; and two on Route 59 in Airmont.

No injuries were reported.

Ramapo police handled 145 calls on Thursday, including 13 alarm activations and two medical emergencies.

Police report five arrests, including charges for trespass, vehicle and traffic offenses and several bench warrants.
