Ramapo Police Charge 28-Year-Old Woman With DWI

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police have arrested a 28-year-old New Jersey woman on a DWI charge.

The suspect was stopped after an officer observed her pass a red traffic signal at a busy intersection and drive in an erratic manner in the Village of Airmont at 12:40 a.m. Friday, police report.

The woman was arrested and her vehicle was impounded; she was released with a future Village Justice Court date, according to officials.

Police also reported motor vehicle accidents at the following locations Friday: North Pascack Road in Hillcrest; Elm Street in Spring Valley; Route 202 in Pomona; Route 59 in Airmont; Maple Avenue in Monsey; Route 59 in Monsey; Main Street in Monsey; and two accidents on Monsey Boulevard in Monsey.

In all, Ramapo police responded to 117 calls for service, 13 alarm activations, three medical emergencies, three fires and nine motor vehicle accidents.

Officers made a total of three arrests: the DWI in Airmont, and two separate arrests for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree.
