Ramapo Police Battle Brush Fire

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police officers battled a brush fire in the area of Water Mill Road in the village of Chestnut Ridge on Saturday.

Officers who arrived at the scene found that an abandoned house between Dundee Court and Demarest Road was on fire, according to police.

The South Spring Valley Fire Department also responded to the blaze, with the Nanuet Fire Department assisting, police report.

Faist Ambulance responded, as well, but there were no reported injuries, according to officials.

The fire was extinguished. The incident is being investigated by Ramapo police detectives.

Ramapo police officers investigated three motor vehicle accidents Saturday: two in Hillcrest and one in Pomona.

All accidents resulted in property damage only; no injuries were reported.

Ramapo police responded to a total of 97 calls for service on Saturday, including 12 medical emergencies, 12 alarm activations and six fire calls.

No arrests were reported.
