Ramapo Police Arrest Motorist On DWI, Drug Charges

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police arrested a motorist on drunk driving and drug charges late Friday.

The arrest came about after officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked in an isolated parking lot, police report.

Upon investigating the vehicle, it was discovered that the operator, a female, was driving while impaired by alcohol, according to officials.

The suspect was also found to be in possession of several Adderall pills and marijuana, police report.

The driver was arrested and charged with driving while impaired, unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to officials.

The defendant was released on bail and is due back in Airmont Court to answer the charges against her, police report.

Officials report that a total of nine motor vehicle accidents occurred within the town Friday.

The sites of the accidents included West Eckerson Road in Hillcrest; Suzanne Drive in Monsey; Route 59 and Glen Hill Road in Monsey; Forshay Road in Monsey; 58 Route 59 in Monsey; West Carlton Road in Monsey; and Route 45 in Chestnut Ridge.

Police handled 139 Calls for service on Friday, including seven medical emergencies, 19 alarm activations and two fires.

Two arrests were made, both on DWI charges, according to officials.
