Ramapo Police Aid Elderly Man Who Got Lost On His Way Home

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police came to the rescue of an elderly man who appeared to be lost Monday.

The unidentified man was walking near Eugene Levy Park on Route 35 around 4:45 p.m. He told police he lived nearby, but had lost his “bearings,” they said.

He was safely returned to a family member, police said.

Police answered a total of 156 calls Monday, including: 16 alarm activations, 15 medical emergencies, four fires and three arrests for possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic offenses.

Police also responded to eight motor vehicle accidents at the following locations: Route 306, Monsey; New Hempstead Road, New City; Route 45, New City; Chestnut Ridge Road, Chestnut Ridge; College Road, Viola; Dunnigan Drive, Montebello; North Airmont Road, Montebello; and Route 306, Wesley Hills.

The accidents were property damage only, police said.
