Ramapo Officer Saves Semi-Conscious Woman With Naloxone

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A Ramapo police officer recently saved a woman who had passed out at work by administering a dose of the anti-opioid drug naloxone, according to the Ramapo Police Department.

The event took place at 10 a.m. Tuesday when the department was sent to a Montebello office building for a semi-conscious woman at her desk, police said.

The first officer on the scene found a 46-year-old woman lying face up and unresponsive. Her breathing was shallow and the officer could not feel a pulse. Based upon her condition and some other information the officer received, he administered one dose of naloxone, police said.

After about 30 seconds, the victim opened her eyes and became responsive. A second dose was administered and the woman opened her eyes with color returning to her face and hands, police added.

She was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
