Peter Brower was making $369,000 per year during the height of his tenure and used his secretary at the Police Department to conduct payroll for his side business and may have used department phones as well, according to his testimony from 2014 reported by lohud.com.
Brower was asked about his job running security for Pierson Lakes, a gated community in Sloatsburg with multimillion-dollar homes, during a deposition about a separate gender-discrimination lawsuit, according to lohud.com.
The testimony raises questions about whether his second job was done on town time and whether the job, in his department's jurisdiction, created conflicts with his police duties because Ramapo police have jurisdiction over Pierson Lakes, according to lohud.com.
