The 16-year-old student (whose name is being withheld) was charged with possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and menacing after the other younger student told his parent's about the event after school, said Det. Sgt. Brian Corbett.
Ramapo Police began an investigation after being contacted by the victim's parents. The victim told police that when the suspect sat down next to him on the bus around 2 p.m., the two talked and then he pulled a loaded handgun from a backpack and pointed it at the younger student, police said.
The teen was arrested later Friday night when he was located as a passenger in a vehicle being driven by Timothy Brown, 23, of Spring Valley in Nanuet. During the traffic stop, the loaded handgun was found by detectives. Both the 16-year-old suspect and Brown were arrested, Corbett said.
The 16-year-old is being held at the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $20,000. bail. Brown was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held at the Rockland County Jail with no bail.
