Police responded to a robbery of a gas station in the Monsey area of the Town of Ramapo on Thursday just after midnight, officials report.
The suspect jumped the counter, assaulted the clerk and fled with cash, running east from the location, according to police.
The suspect is described as a white male about 5-foot-7, wearing a green hooded camouflage jacket, black ski mask, black gloves, light blue jeans and white sneakers, police report.
The injured employee was removed to the hospital by ambulance, according to officials.
Police conducted an extensive search of the area utilizing the K9 unit and patrol officers, police report.
Ramapo police detectives are currently investigating the incident. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked call the Detective Bureau.
Police responded to 142 calls for service on Thursday, including eight medical emergencies, three fires and 15 alarm activations, according to officials.
Police report making four arrests, including suspects charged for vehicle and traffic offenses and a violation of an order of protection.
Ramapo police officers investigated accidents in nine locales: three in Viola, two in Monsey, and one each in New Hempstead, Spring Valley, Tallman and Airmont.
One of the accidents, which occurred on Route 306 in the Viola area of the Town of Ramapo, involved injuries, according to officials.
