Kristopher Crayton is being held without bail at Rockland County Jail after an arraignment in Clarkstown Justice Court on two counts of felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of fourth-degree felony possession, and fifth-degree felony possession, police said. He's also charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of tampering with physical evidence, police said.
Also, he's charged with several misdemeanors, such as two counts of second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and three counts of third-degree fleeing a police officer in a car, police said.
Police said they saw the man's white Nissan pickup truck make a turn on Gilchrist Road in Valley Cottage without using a signal. When officers tried to pull over the car, the driver took off, then threw a small item out the window.
Police said the pickup truck drove at speeds higher than 80 to 90 mph at times and crossed over into oncoming lanes occasionally. The driver stopped after driving into a dead-end on Demarest Mill Road, police said.
During a search, officers found 11 grams of crack cocaine, 12 grams of heroin, a digital scale, and several clear plastic bags, police said. There were no injuries or damage during the pursuit, police said.
