An investigation into the incident determined that at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, a 2004 Toyota sedan being driven by a 17-year-old male from Monsey, struck a 62-year-old woman, also from Monsey, said Sgt. Mark Briggs.
The driver reported that while he was making a left turn from Robert Pitt Drive onto Route 59 his vision became obstructed due to sun glare. As a result, he wasn't able to see the woman who was crossing Route 59 in the crosswalk and struck her, Briggs said.
The woman suffered a foot injury and was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Hatzolah Ambulance in stable condition.
The driver was issued a summons for failure to yield to a pedestrian.
