While on patrol during Tuesday morning’s midnight shift, a Ramapo Police Department officer was approached by two men who believed that an employee at Oneg Butcher Shop was stealing from the register, prompting an investigation.

Detectives investigated the incident and were able to obtain video surveillance of Spring Valley resident Salomon Cuenca-Ramos breaking into the building overnight and stealing from the register while the store was closed. It was determined that Cuenca-Ramos stole hundreds of dollars from the register since the summer began, police said.

Cuenca-Ramos was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and charged with a felony count of third-degree burglary and petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He was released on bail and is due back in court later this year. The investigation into the incidents is ongoing, keep following Daily Voice for updates.
