Derik Mayz was found around 2:15 a.m.when an officer observed a vehicle on Washington Avenue at the intersection of Lafayette Avenue idling and not moving when the light at this location turned green, said Suffern Police Chief Clarke Osborn.
The officer then pulled behind the vehicle and when he approached Mayz he found him passed out behind the wheel, Osborn said.
After several knocks on the window by the officer, Mayz woke up and was found to be intoxicated. He was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters where he was given a breathalyzer test with the results being above .08 percent.
Mayz was released pending a future court date in Suffern Justice Court.
