Driver Escapes Injury When Rock Hits Sun Roof, Ramapo Police Report

SLOATSBURG, N.Y. -- A driver narrowly escaped injury Wednesday when a rock or other object struck her car's sun roof and shattered it, Ramapo police said.

Ramapo police say a woman reported that the sun roof of her car was shattered by a rock or other object as she drove past a roadway construction site on Route 17 in Sloatsburg on Wednesday. The woman was not injured.

The unidentified woman told police she was driving on Route 17 in Sloatsburg about 3:30 p.m. when the object hit her 2016 Honda.

She was driving past a roadway construction site when the incident occurred, police said.

Police said they also investigated several car accidents Wednesday, one of which resulted in an injury.

They occurred on Viola Road, Monsey (2); Hungry Hollow Road (1) and Chestnut Ridge Road, Chestnut Ridge (1); Spook Rock Road, Airmont (1); and North Airmont Road, Montebello (1).

Police also investigated several alarm activations, 18 medical emergencies, nine fires, and seven arrests on charges which included aggravated harassment, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
