Officers responded to the construction site after receiving a call that the worker had fallen from a second-floor. When officers arrived on scene they found the worker had fallen while unloading building supplies from a forklift, police said.
The worker received serious injuries and was transported to Westchester Medical Center, police said.
Due to the conditions, police requested the New Square Building Inspector respond to the location as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), who will investigate this incident, police said.
More than 4,500 workers die on the job each year. OSHA's mission is to prevent workplace deaths, injuries, and illnesses. To report emergencies, unsafe working conditions, safety and health violations, to file a complaint or to ask safety and health questions, call OSHA at 1-800-321-6742.
