Chestnut Ridge Man Charged With Criminal Mischief, Ramapo Police Say

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police have charged a Chestnut Ridge man with criminal mischief and harassment after, they said, he kicked in a door at his home.

Ramapo police said the unnamed man was angry that another family member had taken the batteries out of his video camera.

He was arraigned in Chestnut Ridge Court and must appear in court at a later date, police said.

Police said they also handled a total of 138 calls on Wednesday, April 20, including: eight medical emergencies, nine fires, 20 alarm activations, and five other arrests for petit larceny, possession of stolen property, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

They also handled 12 motor vehicle accidents in the following locales: Monsey (4), New Hempstead (3), Montebello (2), Airmont (1), Chestnut Ridge (1), and Wesley Hills (1).

One accident involved an injury and one was a hit and run, police said.
