Caught On Camera: Hillcrest Convenience Store Video Leads To Theft Arrests

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A group of Spring Valley and Pomona teens who stole some items from a 24-hour Hillcrest convenience store Thursday evening confessed to the crimes after learning they had been caught in the act on surveillance video, according to Ramapo Police.

The store owner told police that several males took air fresheners and cosmetic products from the store, and left without paying. The responding officer went to a few nearby addresses to investigate, and located two suspects,  police said.

At fist, the teens denied they were involved until they learned they were caught on high-definition video. At that point, there wasn’t much left to deny, and they turned over the stolen merchandise. They even led the officer to a car where another involved male was sitting, and handed over 10 stolen air freshener spray bottles, police said.

The suspects, aged 18 and under, were all arrested for petit larceny and released on appearance tickets for a future court date.
