Boyfriend Faces Felony Charges After Choking Suffern Woman, Police Say

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- A New Jersey man faces felony charges after he choked his girlfriend during an argument, Suffern police said.

The 22-year-old unidentified man from Lyndhurst was fighting with the woman on Friday, Feb. 12, at her Somerset Drive resident when he grabbed her phone away and put his hands around her throat, police said.

The victim told police that she almost lost consciousness and could not breathe.

The suspect then threatened the woman and fled the scene, police said.

He was arrested, charged with second-degree strangulation, and sent to Rockland County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail, police said.
