Ramapo police officers arrested 22 people on Sunday, who had unlawfully entered the property to swim in the flooded quarry pit, the department said on Tuesday.

Police said that the 22 were arrested for trespassing and have since been processed and released with appearance tickets demanding they return to the Village of Suffern Justice Court. The arrests come on the heels of the arrests of 13 people who were also charged with trespassing by officers last week.

“(The) Ramapo (Police Department) is serious about strictly enforcing the no trespass laws at the Quarry. The area is dangerous, including unseen hazards in the flooded pit area and surrounding grounds,” officials stated. “You will be arrested if you are found at the Quarry. Do not enter the area.”
