Rockland Rabbi Ronald Greenwald Remembered As Educator, Activist

AIRMONT, N.Y. -- Ronald Greenwald, a beloved rabbi known for his contributions as an educator and activist, will be sorely missed by his Rockland community, according to a report in the Rockland Times.

Mort Becker, a community adviser for the Daily Voice and a Rockland reporter, wrote in the Times that the religious leader, who died Wednesday, Jan. 20, in Florida, made a career of international hostage mediation.

Greenwald was 82 and lived in Airmont. His funeral services were held in Monsey on Thursday, Jan. 21.

Becker, who was a child when he first met Greenwald, wrote that heremembered the rabbi as warm, kind, and generous. He also wrote that the rabbi was known for breaking stereotypes and for his genuine concern for his fellow man, he wrote in the Rockland Times.
