Montebello Village Clerk, Gloria Fuca-Scalisi, 48

MONTEBELLO, N.Y. -- Montebello Village Clerk Gloria Fuca-Scalisi of Pearl River died Wednesday after battling an illness. She was 48.

She was born March 12, 1968 in Ponza, Italy to Osvaldo and Luigina Fuca. 

She was known for being a great cook and baker, and making meals look effortless. Her tri-color cookies were her specialty.

She attended Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx and graduated from Iona College. She taught CCD at St. Margarets Elementary School, and was a member and past board member of the San Silverio Shrine of Dover Plains, NY.

Fuca-Scalisi was employed by the Village of Montebello as the Clerk/Treasurer and enjoyed her career at the Village. She was well respected by her colleagues and the community. 

She also loved her home town, Pearl River, and received an outpouring of love and support by the community during her illness. 

She is survived by by her children, Benny and Sally, her mother, Luigina, her brothers Salvatore, Silvio and Anthony, and her nephews, Maximus and Lorenzo. 

She was predeceased by her father, Osvaldo, in 2015.

A funeral Mass was held Saturday at St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet.
