NEW CITY, N.Y.— Kerney Lee Oby, 67, a native of Baton Rouge, La. and a resident of New City, died unexpectedly Nov. 19 while visiting family in Louisiana.
Oby was a a dedicated member and Deacon in First Baptist Church, a retired licensed real estate appraiser, Vietnam veteran, Rockland County Buffalo Soldier Awardee and member of American Legion Post 199.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra T. Oby; daughters, Angela N. Oby of Durham, N.C. and Candace M. Oby of Richmond, Va; grandson, Darryl Oby, South Carolina State University; sister, Joan O. Dawson of Towson, Md.; brother, Lloyd L. Oby Sr. of Baton Rouge; sisters-in-law, Delores Ellois, Betty Allen, and Juanita Tucker of Baton Rouge; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be at the First Baptist Church, Hoyt Street in Spring Valley on Friday, Nov. 27. The viewing will be from 10 a.m. to noon with a veterans’ service at 11 a.m. and the funeral at noon. The internment will follow at Loescher Veterans Cemetery
