Henry R. Bauer, 89, Of Suffern

SUFFERN, N.Y. – Henry R. Bauer, a resident of Suffern, died Sunday, March 6. He was 89.

Bauer served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater. After attending New York University on the G.I. Bill, he moved to the Suffern area where he taught elementary school in the Ramapo Central School District for almost 40 years. For many years, he also worked part time as a basketball referee and at St. Agatha’s Home in Nanuet.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, Stephen, Jean, Mary, Henry, Edward, Matthew and Margaret; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral is 10 a.m., Thursday, March 10, at Sacred Heart Church; 125 Lafayette Avenue; Suffern. Interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont.
