NEW HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. --Ermelindo Roman, a resident of New Hempstead, died Wednesday, March 30. He was 83.
He was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, to Manuel Roman and Leonarda Roman-Pagan.
He graduated from Catholic University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor’s degree in social science. He was a veteran who served during the Korean War, as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He came to the U.S. and was a Garnerville resident for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Maiholz-Roman; and his daughter, Leonora Roman-Campney and her husband Daniel of Monroe.
He was predeceased by his son, Ronald Roman.
A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held Saturday, April 9, at 10 a.m. at the Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Brick Church Road, New Hempstead.
