She moved to New York from her hometown of Montgomery, Ala. in her mid-30s.
She enjoyed being a teacher at the West Street Day Care Center for some years. However, she retired from the East Ramapo Central School District, where she worked for the last 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Zebulon Paul Walker.
She is survived by her children, Brenda (Jerry) Gaddis, Linda Tyson, Beverly Crenshaw-Johnson, Larry (Brenda) Rivera, Lorenzo (Beatrice) Rivera; brother, Willie Crenshaw; sister, Minnie "Sarah" Parker; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
home going service will be conducted Monday at St. Paul's AME Zion Church, 121 West St., Spring Valley. The wake will be from 10 a.m. to noon, and the funeral will follow at noon.
