CHESTNUT RIDGE, N.Y. -- Charles Herdemian, 93, of Chestnut Ridge, died Wednesday, Sept. 28.
He was born May 13, 1923, in the Bronx, to Sarkis and Lucy (Yepremian) Herdemian.
He was educated in the Bronx and was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School. Locally, he was a member of the AGAU an American youth organization out of the Tenafly Armenian Church - St. Thomas. He worked as a jeweler manufacturer for Charles Herdemian Inc. in Park Ridge. He was with the company for 65 years before retiring in 2009. He was a member of the American GEM Society of the Jewelry Association in New York.
He is survived by his five sons, Charles Jr., Robert and wife Cathy, Anthony and wife Ellen, Paul and wife Cecilia and Edward; 11 grandchildren, Alan, Rachel, Jeff, Nicholas, Natalie, Paul, Shauna, Caitlin, Edward, Montanna and Madison; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Richard; sisters, Rose and Mary; and his longtime nurses' aide Francis Famakinwa who was like an adopted son to him.
He was predeceased by his wife, Grace; brother, Johnny; and grandson, Stuart.
Visiting from 6-9 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc., 100 Franklin Ave., Pearl River. Burial will follow at Cemetery of the Ascension in Airmont.
