SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- Approximately 26 apartment units were destroyed in a two-alarm fire at Hickory House Co-ops on North Main Street in Spring Valley off of Slinn Avenue on Saturday.
The blaze , which broke out around 7 a.m., led to road closures in the area as a result of firefighting operations.
Hillcrest, Nanuet and South Spring Valley firefighters immediately responded, according to the Ramapo Police Department. But it took firefighters from 14 Rockland departments to finally put out the fire.
The Red Cross is working with residents left homeless.
Police are investigating the cause of the blaze.
"Our prayers are with our brave firefighters and the residents," Rockland County Executive Ed Day said.
