Suffern Police Step Up Holiday Patrols, Charge Woman With DWI

SUFFERN, N.Y. – Suffern police added extra patrols during the recent Memorial Day holiday, targeting impaired, aggressive, or distracted drivers.

As a result of their “proactive” stance, police said they charged a 42-year-old village resident with aggravated driving while intoxicated.

The unidentified woman was spotted, police said, making an unsafe turn into an oncoming lane of traffic.

The woman was pulled over and given a breathalyzer test, which she failed, police said.

She was found to have a blood alcohol content of .18 percent, police said.

She was released on bail pending a future court date, police said.

Suffern police said they also stopped a 19-year-old man on Lafayette Avenue for an alleged traffic violation and ended up charging him with possession of marijuana.

A 28-year-old New Windsor man was charged with driving with a suspended license.

He had been pulled over on Orange Avenue, police said, for talking on his cell phone.
