State Tells Ramapo To Beef Up Documentation Of Code Inspections

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Allegations that a fire inspector let violations slide at several private schools has spurred the state to demand that Ramapo improve the way it enforces local codes, according to a report on lohud.com.

Among those changes the town is expected to make is the way it documents inspections, the lohud.com report said.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day and others have called for the state Division of Building Standards and Codes to step in and take over inspection duties in Ramapo and in Spring Valley, media reports said.

The allegations against now-suspended inspector Adam Peltz were bought by the state Department of Education, media reports said.

The schools where Peltz is accused of missing serious code violations are: Bais Yaakov, the Rockland Institute for Special Education, the Green Meadow Waldorf School, and Bais Yehuda.
