State Approves Empty Summit Park Closure

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The state health department has approved plans for the closure of the Summit Park Hospital and Nursing Care Center , a major step in the facility's anticipated Dec. 31 shutdown, according to lohud.com.

This means the Rockland County-owned complex's staff can begin reaching out to residents and their families to prepare them to move elsewhere, according to a statement released Thursday by County Executive Ed Day, reported lohud.com.

No patients remain in Summit Park's hospital portion of the facility; there are 122 residents living in the nursing home, said lohud.com.
