A months-long investigation has resulted in the arrests of eight people accused of distributing heroin and crack cocaine at the Lakeview Village senior apartment complex in Spring Valley, police said on Monday.
Over the past five months, the Rockland County Drug Task Force said it has been receiving intelligence from the Spring Valley Police Department on a network of career criminals who were allegedly dealing drugs in the complex.
The Rockland County Drug Task Force conducted an investigation which involved undercover buys, buyer beware operations, search warrants all to dismantle the drug dealings and quality of life issues.
The Rockland County Drug Task Force and the Spring Valley Police Departments Tactical Unit conducted a search warrant at 71 Lakeview Village on Thursday, Oct. 5 and located over 5.5 grams of crack/cocaine, heroin, and U.S. cStates Currency.
The following were arrested during the execution of this search warrant:
- Gerald Cotton, 54, of Spring Valley was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, with intent to sell in the third degree (Class B felony) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (Class C felony).
- Robert Downing, 59, of Spring Valley was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, with intent to sell in the third degree (Class B felony) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (Class C felony).
- Marco Alarcon, 25, of Port Chester was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, with intent to sell in the third degree (Class C felony). and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (Class C felony).
- Tara Shine, 40, of Spring Valley was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, with intent to sell in the third degree (Class B felony) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (Class C felony).
- Beverlyn Richardson, 50, of Monsey was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, with intent to sell in the third degree (Class B felony) and criminal Possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (Class C felony)..
- Frederick DeLeon, 40, of Garnerville was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, with intent to sell in the third degree (Class B felony) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (Class C felony).
- Marcus Perkins, 34, of Nanuet was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, with intent to sell in the third degree (Class B felony) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (Class C felony).
- Dennis Pitt, 55, of Garnerville was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, with intent to sell in the third degree (Class B felony) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (Class C felony).
In 2014, the Rockland County Drug Task Force and the Spring Valley Police Department conducted several other search warrants in the same complex 150 Lakeview Village and 152 Lakeview Village resulting in "Operation Money Mike" totaling 30 arrests.
